Veterans

Serving our state’s veterans and men and women in uniform on the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee is one of my greatest honors from my time in the legislature. I am very proud to have the VA Medical Center and grounds in our district, and to be able to witness the restoration of the Milwaukee Soldiers Home to serve our state’s veterans in new ways.

 

The buildings on their campus have been rehabilitated to include 101 units of housing and to provide services for veterans and their families.

 

This session, I supported policies to exempt active duty income from state income tax, increase grant awards to county Veterans Services Organizations, and to reduce the threshold to claim the veterans and surviving spouses property tax credit.

 

I pushed for immediate supportive funding for the UW MIA Recovery and Identification Project. This tremendous program finds and identifies missing military personnel from previous global conflicts.

 

These missing men and women gave everything for our country, it is our duty to honor their memory, provide closure for their loved ones, and return them home!
